PAGBILAO, QUEZON — A German national suffering from mental health disorders was arrested for allegedly killing his Filipina wife in a small island in Brgy. Ibabang Polo in this coastal town.
Quezon police director, Col. Audie Madrideo said Martin Carl Otto Turk, 75, tried to escape on a boat but was cornered by members of barangay police.
Madrideo said the body of Basilisa Crisologo Turk, 75, was discovered by her sister covered with a blanket lying near the couple's house.
Town police commander, Major Reden Romasanta who rushed to the crime scene said the victim suffered stab wounds in the body and a fractured head.
Helinda Crisologo, younger sister of the victim, said the latter called her on June 24 saying that she and the suspect have been quarreling and that the latter has been threatening to kill her.
Two days later, Crisologo said she tried to contact the victim but the latter's mobile phone was already unattended.
"Kaya napilitan na po akong pumunta sa bahay nila sa isla kasama ang ilang Barangay tanod at doon ko nadiskubre ang kanyang bangkay na nangangamoy na", Romasanta quoted Crisologo as saying.
Upon seeing them coming, Romasanta said the suspect who was totally nude at the time tried to flee using a boat but he was eventually arrested by the tanods.
Probers recovered a 15” long bladed weapon and a 21” piece of wood, a mobile phone and false teeth owned by the victim.
The suspect is presently detained at the Pagbilao municipal police station custodial facility.
Barangay Ibabang Polo chairman Arnel Amandy said the couple had been living in their half- hectare wide islet for around three decades.
Their only son lives and works in the poblacion.
