ADMINISTRATIVE charges filed against politicians included in the narco-list of President Rodrigo Duterte will be pursued even if they won in the May 13 mid-term elections.
This was assured yesterday by Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo M. Año.
“Kahit na pinalad silang manalo, tuloy pa rin ang administrative cases laban sa kanila. Hindi pa rin sila makakalusot kung sila ay mapapatunayang sangkot talaga sa iligal na droga,” Año said.
There are 37 persons included in the President’s narco list who ran for public office.
Of the number, 26 earned a fresh mandate from their constituents despite the release of the narco-list two months before the midterm polls.
The list of winning narco pols include 2 congressmen, 1 vice-governor, 18 mayors, 3 vice-mayors, 1 councilor and 1 board member from Calabarzon, BARMM, Eastern Visayas, Ilocos Region, Northern Mindanao, Western Visayas, Central Luzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCKSARGEN, and Caraga.
Año said the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will pursue the criminal cases as they have the evidence necessary for case build up.
He added that the DILG is closely coordinating with the Philippine National Police (PNP), PDEA, and other national government agencies in the drug war on pressing cases against the winning narco-politicians.
