THE Department of Health-CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) conducted a five-day epidemiology summit to strengthen the surveillance system in the region.
Dr. Eduartdo C. Janairo, regional director, said the “Epidemiologic and Surveillance Unit Summit” was held to update disease surveillance officers on the newly signed Republic Act 11223 known as the “Universal Health Care Act” and R.A. 11332 known as the “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act” and to further enhance the reporting of diseases in the region.
“Napakaimportante na palakasin ang disease surveillance natin dahil patuloy ang paglaki ng ating populasyon, dumarami rin ang public health risks and napakabilis kumalat ng mga sakit at dahil dito ang kalusugan ng mamamayan ang nakataya.
“This is still part of universal health care, strengthening of the primary care through timely and proper reporting of notifiable diseases in the community and establishing immediate prevention and control measures to prevent the incidence of outbreaks. With an efficient and effective diseases surveillance system, the public will be protected from health threats and diseases for elimination and eradication,” he stressed.
