President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed another retired military official to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Duterte named former Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Maj. Gen. Rene Glen Paje as DSWD undersecretary.
The President signed Paje’s appointment last Friday.
Paje served as deputy chief of staff for civil military operations. He also served as a commander of the First Scout Ranger Regiment.
Paje led the Scout Rangers during the Marawi siege, the biggest crisis of the military in recent years.
Paje was not the first military official appointed to a civilian post.
Last month, the President appointed former Assistant Division Commander of the Mechanized Infantry Division of the Philippine Army Felicisimo Budiongan as DSWD undersecretary.
Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rolando Bautista was a former Chief of Staff of the AFP.
