ANTI-PORK advocate Senator Panfilo “Ping”Lacson has urged President Rodrigo Duterte to abolish any form of pork barrel in the 2019 proposed national budget.

Lacson said that it is high-time that the President should act against the pork barrel by erasing all kinds of insertions made by lawmakers that crafted the proposed budget.

The senator insisted that the President can use anytime his line-item veto power to eliminate the pork insertions.

“My President, you have displayed your strong political will on several occasions. This time, use your line-item veto power over the 2019 appropriations measure by removing all the “pork” inserted by lawmakers who are incorrigibly insatiable and simply ‘beyond redemption’,” Lacson posted on his Twitter account.

The senator also divulged that Senate Finance Committee chairperson Loren Legarda still has not revealed to them the amendments to the proposed budget made by the two leaders of the bicam panels.

“It can’t be business as usual of simply routing to the bicam members all that the small group bicam composed of both chairs have agreed as amendments without us at least going through the major amendments,” Lacson stressed.

“Especially the P160 million per congressman, P23 billion for some senators and of course the important institutional amendments that we introduced,” he added.

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto is set to call an all senators caucus today to dicuss and find a remedy for the continued delay in the approval of the budget.
