AS Philippine Cabinet and Centraal Bank officials gathered in Nadi, Fiji for an annual Asian Development Bank (ADB) meeting, President Rodrigo Duterte was monitoring the event from his bed in Davao -- while watching Netflix.
In a photo provided by Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, Duterte was seen in his bed watching “Django Unchained” through streaming service provider Netflix.
Puyat was part of the Philippine delegation at the 52nd annual meeting of the ADB Board of Governors to discuss pressing development issues in the Asia-Pacific.
Reports said Puyat was in the middle of an interview when Duterte called her for updates on Boracay.
“He was following up on my meeting with the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) regarding the carrying capacity of Boracay. He just wants to ensure that his directive was followed,” she said.
After beach paradise Boracay was reopened in October from a 6-month rehabilitation closure, the Department of Tourism limited visitors to 19,000 a day on top of 15,000 workers to keep to its 55,000 carrying capacity.
“(Our topic0 was more of CAB but I did tell him about my panel discussion here in Fiji and that the buzz word was Boracay,” Puyat added.
The ADB meet will conclude today.
