In-flight PH tourism campaign proposed

THE House Committee on Tourism has adopted a resolution seeking to mandate the Department of Tourism (DoT) to intensify promotion by requiring all local commercial airlines to include in their officialin-flight announcements the infomercials about the beauty and hospitality of the Philippine Islands and its people.

In his House Resolution (HR) No. 1775, Deputy Speaker and Buhay Hayaang Yumabong (Buhay) party-list Rep. Lito Atienza, Jr. said that airlines can play an important role in the promotion of the beauty of the Philippines and its people through in-flight announcements or infomercials which can attract the attention of the passengers.

The resolution states that the DoT is the primary planning, programming, coordinating, implementing and regulatory government agency tasked to develop and promote the tourism industry, both domestic and international, in coordination with attached agencies and other government instrumentalities.
