SENATOR Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said the Philippines expects to sign several agreements covering practical areas of cooperation with Russia during President Rodrigo Duterte’s five-day visit to Moscow.
Go bared Duterte will have a bilateral meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
Duterte will also attend the Valdai Forum in Sochi along with Putin.
“I’m sure marami silang pag-uusapan to improve the relations between our two countries and malaki rin po ang tulong ng bansang Russia dun sa giyera sa Marawi,” Go said.
Go added the leaders are expected to discuss issues on security and defense, economic cooperation, and trade and investment, among others.
I was there during their first bilateral (meeting). They’re very good friends. Nagkakaintindihan po sila. They are both strong leaders,” Go said.
Meanwhile, in keeping with his promise to help fellow Filipinos in need, Go continues to visit fire victims in various areas around the country and address the struggles of ordinary Filipinos.
On Sunday, Go visited 31 affected families of a fire that razed over 28 houses in Bgy. Macabling in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.
Go provided financial assistance and distributed food as well as grocery packs to the fire victims. He also committed to give uniforms and school supplies to students affected by the incident.
The senator was accompanied by representatives of concerned government agencies that can extend assistance to the fire victims, such as the National Housing Authority (NHA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP).
Go vowed to take care of the transportation and other fees of those who need medical assistance and further check-ups from health specialists.
May mga Malasakit Centers din tayo,” Go said.
