JUSTICE Secretary Menardo Guevarra was designated as officer-in-charge of the government while President Duterte is in China.
Guevarra will be the OIC from August 28 to September 1.
In Special Order 916 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, all government departments, agencies, and instrumentalities were instructed to assist Guevarra in the discharge of his function of overseeing the day-to-day operations and general administration of the Executive Department.
It added that all acts of Guevarra for and on behalf of Mr. Duterte “shall be deemed acts of the President unless disapproved or reprobated by the President.”
Duterte arrived in Beijing late Wednesday evening.
Two months ago, Guevarra also served as officer-in-charge of the Executive Department from June 21 to 23 while President Duterte was in Bangkok, Thailand to attend the 34th Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) Summit.
