THE camp of Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos has slammed the demolition job and dirty tactics employed by her critics in a bid to derail her senatorial bid.
Marcos, whose strong showing in recent surveys has put her consistently within the winning Magic 12 circle, said the well-funded black propaganda against her now included the dissemination of fake sample ballots.
“My detractors have been distributing fake sample ballots containing only my name in the list of senatorial candidates. They are trying to create the impression that I am campaigning for a single vote only in my favor,” she said.
“Hindi ko ugali at wala sa track record ko ang manlaglag ng mga kasama. Napaka-pathetic ng taktika ng ating mga kalaban para lang ako ay siraan sa mga kapwa ko senatorial candidates sa ilalim ng Hugpong ng Pagbabago,” Marcos added.
President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, have handpicked Marcos to form part of the administration senatorial slate.
Mayor Sara has described Marcos as someone who “will become the voice of Mindanao and a force to reckon with like the time-tested solid North.”
Marcos appealed to her supporters to discard the fake sample ballots.
The fake campaign materials were being distributed even in her hometown in Ilocos Norte and in Mindanao.
She lamented that while she has opted to wage a clean and positive issue-based campaign all throughout the campaign period, her detractors still employed dirty propaganda schemes.
“This is clearly a demolition job by those who do not want me to win at all cost,” she said.
