THE Hugpong ng Pagbabago joined other political groups in saying the term-sharing agreement between Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco must be honored and respected.
HNP chairman and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte issued the statement amidst the ongoing rift between Cayetano and Velasco over the Speakership.
Mayor Sara likewise confirmed her recent meeting with Velasco.
“Congressman Velasco came to Davao City to personally meet me and discuss HNP. He intimated that there will be a Speakership vote and he sought for my help, as the Chairperson of HNP with regard to the votes of the three HNP Congressmen from Davao Region,” the presidential daughter said.
Duterte said he told Velasco that t HNP was created to propel unity and development in Davao Region and assist the administration of Presidient Rodrigo Duterte.
“I also emphasized that HNP will respect the term-sharing agreement as ordered by the President last year and reiterated that the party fully supports Presidential Proclamation 1027,” she added.
Reports said that Mayor Sara had started talking to other solons about supporting Velasco.
Under the term-sharing agreement, which was brokered by President Duterte, Cayetano would serve as Speaker forthe first 15 months of the 18th Congress while Velasco would take over for the next 21 months.Publication Source : People's Journal
