OUTSPOKEN Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson yesterday claimed that exiled Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding chairman Jose Maria Sison has no more control in the operations of the New People’s Army (NPA) here in the Philippines.
Lacson in an interview with DZBB accused Sison of only benefitting and receiving his share of the ‘extortion money’ of the NPA but doesn’t have the command of the rebel hierarchy.
The former head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) made the statement after Sison made criticisms with the Philippine government on the deals entered with China.
Lacson even said that Sison as always, is against any policies made by the Philippine government no matter who is sitting in Malacanang because his only goal is to overthrow the legitimate government.
But Lacson also advised caution on the deals with China. He said that it is imperative to trust the government of the deals made but the people should also be on guard.
After criticisms not just from Sison but from other sectors, Lacson said that what President Rodrigo Duterte and President Xi Jinping witnessed is only a “memorandum of understanding” between the two countries.
“Ang MOU, convergence lang ito ng desire na mag-usap, so napaka-preliminary, hindi naman ibig sabihin pag pumirma ka ng MOU meron ng kasunduan,” he said.
He also confirmed that Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin has already sent copies of the deals agreed and signed by the two presidents to Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
