SENATOR Koko Pimentel yesterday vowed to put the Philippine National Police leadership under the microscope especially concerning the killings of their own personnel when the PNP budget comes up for Senate deliberation.

Pimentel said that he will grill the top officials of the PNP headed by Director General Oscar Albayalde regarding the spate of killings of their policemen and the status of their investigation into the cases.

“Killing ng pulis, yan ang tatanungin ko pag pulis ang pinatay, hindi ba sila nayayanig, nagagalit at gustong isolve sino ang pumatay sa kapwa pulis?” Pimentel asked.

The senator also questioned the competence of the PNP in investigating and resolving the cases of the killings of their own men.

“Kung hindi masolve ang pumatay sa pulis, paano nyo masosolve ang ibang pinatay. Bakit relax na relax kayo?” Pimentel added.

By his recollections, Pimentel claimed that he started asking the PNP during the time of their former chief, General Ricardo Marquez, in 2016 what actions were being taken to resolve the killings perpetrated by unknown criminals but he was not satisfied with the answers he got.

“Kapwa pulis nyo pinatay wala kayo desire to solve the crime. Anong klaseng pulis yan,” Pimentel stressed.

Last October, a Police Officer 1 Marvin German of the Caloocan City Police was killed by motorcycle riding criminals.  The assailant up to now is unknown.

On November 29, PO2 Manuel Melendrez III was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in front of his house in Pasig City.
