THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) backed the Department of Health in denouncing the use of electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products (HTP) in public utility vehicles (PUVs).
E-cigarettes and HTPs are being sold as alternatives for traditional smoking.
Nicotine, as backed up by years of research, has been proven to have negative effects in the body especially with continuous use, while second hand smoke is attributed to various diseases such as heart disease, lung cancer, emphysema, among others.
The LTFRB is also firm in implementing the smoking ban in all PUVs and public land transportation terminals pursuant to R.A. No. 9211.
