SENATORS Nancy Binay and outgoing Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV appeared to have set aside their feud already after the former teased the latter with an offer of a teaching job and free hospitalization package in Makati City.
Trillanes in the past was a staunch critic of former Vice President Jejomar Binay, Nancy’s father.
Senator Panfilo Lacson on Wednesday confirmed to reporters Nancy’s offer to Trillanes but insisted that it was just for fun.
“Totoo yun pero katuwaan lang sa [Senate] lounge. Senator Binay informed us that she had offered graduating Senator Trillanes a teaching job at the University of Makati and free hospitalization at the Ospital ng Makati,” Lacson said.
Trillanes took Sen. Binay’s offer lightheartedly.
“I appreciated the sincere offer but I respectfully declined out of delicadeza,” he said. “It was truly nice of her.”
Getting into the mood, Lacson made his own offer to Trillanes: free parking and free burial.
“Dagdag ko na lang yung free parking and free burial kasi si Senator Trillanes pursued to the hilt the Senate investigation on the UMak and parking lot issues, if you recall,” he added.
Trillanes was among the senators who spearheaded a lengthy Senate investigation into the alleged overpricing of Makati City parking building and University of Makati’s Nursing building during the mayoral tenure of former Vice President Binay and his son, Junjun, in Makati City.
