MAASIN, Southern Leyte – The Hugpong ng Pagbabago does not expect a landslide victory even in Mindanao, the bailiwick of the group.
This was admitted by HNP founder and chairman Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte adding that even in their own survey they only got the majority and not the Magic 12.
‘Wala kaming expectation ng landslide kasi even sa survey namin ngayon sa Davao Region hindi kami nakakabuo ng 12 na HNP,” Mayor Duterte said in an interview here before proceeding to campaign sortie in Tagbilaran, Bohol.
Led by Mayor Sara as the campaign manager, the 13 HNP candidates held a campaign caravan in Samar and Leyte. In Samar they went to Catarman while in Leyte they campaigned in Tacloban and then in Maasin.
According to the presidential daughter, who organized the regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago, their recent survey conducted last February showed that eight of the HNP candidates made it to the Top 12.
However, she did not mention the names of the eight.
“Hindi kami nakakabuo ng 12 sa HNP sa Davao Region survey namin. Kasi hinahanap namin kung saan kami mag-campaign, so nasa 8 lang kami sa Davao region survey yung pinaka latest namin,” she said.
Mayor Sara expressed gratitude as eight of her candidates made it to the Top 12 in the recent survey of Pulse Asia.
They are Cynthia Villar; Bong Go; Sonny Angara; Pia Cayetano; Bato dela Rosa; Bong Revilla; Imee Marcos and Koko Pimentel.
Trailing behind the survey are three other HNP candidates: Jinggoy Estrada; Francis Tolentino and JV Ejercito.
“Seven lang ang ipinagdadasal namin. Eight is swerte na. 9, 10, mahal na mahal na kami ng Diyos talaga,” she said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Duterte admitted that Visayas is not their bailiwick as this region is known for being an ally of the opposition.
“Sa Visayas hindi masyado kami nag-expect, kasi iba din ang kind of politics nila dito. Sa Visayas kasi island per island dito, some of them speak Visayan some Waray, sa Panay iba din naman, so iba iba din politics nila. Maybe Cebu parang hard-core na Cebuano, Visayan speaking area,” she added.
