No Pinoys in Brazil COVID-19 positive

THE Philippine Ambassador to Brazil yesterday said no Filipinos in Brazil have been infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

During the regular Laging Handa briefing, Ambassador Marichu Mauro said there are more or less 1,200 Filipinos living and working in  the South American state and none so far have been found COVID-19 positive.

“Sa awa ng diyos, wala naman po tayong COVID-19 positive na Filipino so far dito sa Brazil,” Mauro said.

The Ambassador however said  14 Filipino seafarers whose ship docked in Brazil have tested positive for COVID-19.

She said 11 of them have already returned to the Philippines, two are still in the hospital and  one has died.

World Health Organization figures show Brazill has more than 2.4 million COVID-19 positive cases in Brazil, including more than 87,000 deaths.
