ALMOST losing her temper, Hugpong ng Pagbabago founder and chairman Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio defended the HNP senatorial candidates against the tirade of the opposition bets.
In an interview after the party’s campaign sortie in Parañaque, Duterte-Carpio said the senatorial bets of the Otso Derecho have no basis or proof supporting their allegations that HNP candidates is dishonest.
She even said there is no candidate who does not tell a lie but this could not be used against any candidate because leadership and track record are more important.
“So sabi ko sa kanilang lahat, walang isang kandidato diyan na hindi nagsisinungaling kaya hindi dapat nagiging issue ang honesty ngayon,” Duterte-Carpio said.
The presidential daughter slammed Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano for claiming that the campaign T-shirts of Bong Go, distributed during a Liga ng mga Barangay event, was financed with public money.
“You know, nagsisinungaling si Alejano when he said that galing sa government funds ang t-shirts na nilagay sa kits,” Duterte-Carpio said in defense of Go.
She also assailed the other Otso Derecho candidates for criticizing reelectionist Senators Sonny Angara and Cynthia Villar on the TRAIN and Rice Tarrification issues, respectively.
“Inaatake nila ang TRAIN law and Rice Tariffication. Ang dami-dami nilang sinasabi about the administration of President Duterte which are untrue. So, that also reflects on their honesty and credibility,” the presidential daughter said.
Since February 12, Duterte-Carpio has been campaigning for the 13 senators of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago, namely, Go, Angara, Villar, former MMDA chief Francis Tolentino, Sen. JV Ejercito, journalist Jiggy Manicad, former PNP chief Bato dela Rosa; Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano, Dong Mangudadatu; former Sens. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada, Sen. Koko Pimentel and Ilocos Gov. Imee Marcos.
She also defended Marcos against the opposition over her questioned college degree.
“Kasi ang sabi nila, the issue is not about college degree but honesty.
And ano gagawin natin sa kanila na they deliberately say false statements on stage about and against the administration of President Duterte. So lahat sila sinungaling. Lahat ng tao sa mundong ito, sinungaling,” she stressed.
Earlier, the Davao City mayor said Marcos does not need to prove the truth about her college degree because her experience and leadership in Ilocos Norte are more than enough for her to win the elections.
