PDP-Laban President Koko Pimentel is closing his door on the members of a rival faction after the Commission on Elections acknowledged his faction as the legitimate party.
Pimentel stressed that “traitors” are not welcome in their ranks, referring to the leadership conflict that happened to the party that saw two factions vying for control of the administration party.
“Ayaw namin ng traydor sa ranks namin. Yung mga taong tumangkilik sa mga rogue elements at doon pumunta akala nila may shortcut sa PDP-Laban, hindi namin tatanggapin sa PDP-Laban yan. Wala akong tiwala paano sila mag-isip,” Pimentel said in an interview with DWIZ radio.
Aside from this, Pimentel also explained that there is no more time for the members of the other faction to shift their alliance to them since the filing of candidacy and substitution is already over.
After the Comelec’s decision, the senator urged the elections body to declare as independents the politicians aligned with the losing faction who filed their “certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA” for the 2019 Midterm elections.
“Ibig sabihin yung unauthorized yung mga nagkukunwaring PDP-Laban na hindi galing sa amin ang kanilang CONA so ibig sabihin nun balewala ang kanilang CONA, magiging independent itong mga ito,” he explained.
Among those who filed his candidacy for a senatorial position was singer Freddie Aguilar whose CONA was signed by Wilfredo Talag who claimed to be the secretary-general of the other PDP-Laban faction.
Pimentel warned the other factions led by Talag and company that they will be facing law suits if they continue to present themselves as members of PDP-Laban.
He also urged those who were deceived by the other group to file appropriate charges against those who identified themselves as leaders of the losing faction.
