Philippine sports complex soon a reality

GOOD news for Filipino athletes.

A Philippine Sports Training Center (PSTC) will soon be established once the measure is signed into law by the President.

The House of Representatives has ratified the bicameral conference committee report on the consolidation of House Bill 5615 and Senate Bill 1716, seeking to establish a modern and highly scientific sports complex.

The PSTC shall serve as the official and primary venue for the development of athletes for the National Team and training of coaches and referees. It shall also host local and international competitions, if necessary.

After a period of planning within six months upon effectivity of the Act, the necessary sports facilities and amenities complying with international standards shall be built within 18 months in a location conducive to the high-level training of athletes, coaches and referees.

The PSTC is to serve as the official home and primary venue for the development of athletes in the National Team and its corresponding training pools included in the list of sports contemplated therein, through the use of scientific principles and programs, proven training techniques, and modern equipment and facilities that are on par with international standards.
