FILIPINOS in the United States have been advised to exercise increased vigilance and take necessary measures to ensure their safety after some incidence of crimes targeting Asians and Asian-Americans.
A public advisory was issued by the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC amid the continuous spike in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in America.
“As COVID-19 continues to spread across the US, so do the attendant risks to individual health and security, including some incidence of crimes targeting Asians and Asian-Americans. During these challenging times, please continue to exercise increased vigilance and take necessary measures to ensure your safety,” according to the public advisory.
Filipinos were also told to follow health protocols imposed by local authorities to avoid contracting the disease.
“In view of the increasing number of covid 19 cases in many parts of the US, Filipinos in the US are strongly advised to continue abiding by the health protocols imposed by local authorities. Please wear face masks and follow social distancing rules in public places and whenever you are in the company of people who are not members of your household.”
