PHLIPPINE National Police chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde said that effective today, all police forces in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas will be on full alert as they prepare to secure President Duterte’s 4th State of the Nation Address on Monday.
The PNP chief also directed his men to intensify focused law enforcement, border control, checkpoint operations and other intervention activities to address threats to peace and order, terrorism and promote public safety in their respective areas of operations.
National Capital Region Police Office director Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said although they have not monitored any threats to the President’s SONA, they are not lowering their guard and are seeing to it that all kinds of threats will be addressed.
Gen. Albayalde has called on leaders of various anti-government groups expected to conduct protest rallies near Batasan Pambansa complex in Quezon City and other parts of Metro Manila to police their own ranks and see to it that they will be guarding against saboteurs and infiltrators.
He said he has ordered the NCRPO to maintain maximum tolerance in dealing with the protesters but to be firm in enforcing the law.
