THE National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has approved the recruitment of 10,000 new police officers to help curb insurgency and support personnel build-up programs of the national police.
NAPOLCOM vice chairman and executive officer Atty. Rogelio Casurao said Resolution 2019-707 gave the PNP green light to hire new police officers in 2019.
Of the numbers, 7,895 will be distributed to the PNP Mobile Forces under the 17 police regional offices nationwide while the 2,105 recruits will be allocated to selected national support units (NSUs) and other (police) offices.
“The PNP CY 2019 Regular Recruitment Program distribution is based on police to population ratio, peace and order condition, and actual demands of the functional area,” Casurao said.
Under the approved regular quota, Police Regional Office-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-ARMM) will get the most number of new recruits with 800, followed by PRO-5 with 750, and PRO-10 with 700.
PRO Cordillera and PRO-4 share at fourth spot with 600 each while 500 will go to PRO-13.
PRO-1 to get 450; PRO2- 350; PRO3- 300; PRO4A- 295; PRO6- 400; PRO7- 300; PRO8- 450; PRO9- 350; PRO11- 400; PRO12- 350; while gets NCRPO- 300.
The 2,105 quota is distributed to selected NSUs and other offices such as Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG); Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG); Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) among others.
Casurao said chiefs of PNP offices or units and members of the various screening and selection committees, including the head and members of the secretariat, are required to ensure strict compliance with the recruitment procedures and guarantee the appointment of the best and most qualified police personnel, otherwise, they would be subjected to administrative sanctions.
