THE National Police Commission (Napolcom) yesterday awarded cash and plaques of recognition to the winners in the Search for 2019 Model Philippine National Police (PNP) Families.
Interior and Local Government Secretary and Napolcom chairman Eduardo M. Año, Napolcom vice chairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio T. Casurao and Commissioners Felizardo M. Serapio, Jr., Zenonida F. Brosas and Job M. Mangente as well as Philippine National Police chief General Oscar D. Albayalde awarded the winners in a ceremony held at the PNP National Headquarters at Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Master Sgt. Mashul Nami Jr., assigned at the Bayugan City Police Station in Agusan del Sur Provincial Police Office (PPO), and his family was recognized as the 2019 most outstanding family by the Napolcom. As member of the PNP SALAAM Police Center, Nami carries out various activities with Muslim communities in addressing terrorism and lawless violence in their respective areas to ensure respect of cultural diversity and cooperation. He also authored “Project Shukran” which is considered as one of the best practices of BCPS for Muslim communities.
His wife Catherine is a retired public-school teacher and is currently connected with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as City Link Officer of 4Ps. Through Catherine’s initiatives, her team was awarded “Most Outstanding City Operations Office of CARAGA.”
The couple has dedicated their lives in conducting family development symposia and seminars bringing local government agencies’ services to far-flung barangays. Like their parents, their children are also active in various youth organizations, clubs, and school activities.
Awarded as the first runner-up is the Teope family. Police Senior Master Sergeant Joseph T. Teope is assigned at the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company in Camp Francisco Camacho, Virac, Catanduanes PPO, PRO5.
The second runner-up was the Montes Family. Police Chief Master Sergeant Sonny T. Montes is a member of the San Luis Municipal Police Station (MPS), Aurora PPO, PRO3.
The third runner-up was the Ceralde family. Police Captain Clemente G. Ceralde Jr. is currently assigned at Dumanjug Police Station, Cebu City PPO, PRO7 while the Tactay family was awarded fourtth runner-up.
Police Captain Pedro T. Tactay is the Deputy Chief of the Police Community Affairs Development Branch, Mountain Province PPO and his wife Anilane Ayochok Tactay works at the Department of Agrarian Reform-Mountain Province.
Aside from the plaque of recognition, the model families received the cash -- P200,000 for the grand winner; P150,000 for the 1st runner-up; P100,000 for the 2nd runner-up; P70,000 for the 3rd runner-up; and 50,000 for the 4th runner-up.
The cash award for the winners was sponsored by the DILG, NAPOLCOM, Foundation for Crime Prevention, Inc. (FCP), Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), SM Prime Holdings, Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI), Megaworld Corporation, Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), Jollibee Foods Corporation, Globe Telecom and Victory Liner.
“The nationwide search, now on its seventh year, aims to encourage and inspire PNP uniformed personnel to induce positive change in the community by serving as role model,” Casurao said.
