Poe Donates

SENATOR Grace Poe has donated thousands of face masks and face shields as well as gallons of alcohol to residents of Quezon City and Caloocan City amid the alarming continued spike of COVID-19 infections, mostly in the National Capital Region (NCR), in the country.

The protective items against the coronavirus were distributed last March 14 by the Panday Bayanihan Foundation to Pasong Tamo Health Center in Quezon City and Barangay 40 and Marulas Health Center in Caloocan City.

Panday Bayanihan Foundation, headed by her son and chief of staff, Brian Poe Llamanzares, is her NGO partner for outreach program.

Poe expressed gratitude to Public Administration Doctorate students from the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA for helping the group in distributing the face masks, face shields and alcohol.

Through the Panday Bayanihan Foundation, Poe has been giving face masks, face shields, personal protective equipment suits and bottles of alcohol to different barangays and hospitals since the outbreak of COVID-19 to help the people in protecting themselves against the coronavirus.

Panday Bayanihan was organized in 2013 after typhoon “Maring” hit the country, which affected some 2.5 million people and displaced around 800,000 residents.

Its primary mission is to extend assistance to the needy, especially those affected by natural and man-made disasters.

The NGO was named after the iconic fictional local hero of the underdog masses portrayed and popularized by the senator’s late father, Fernando Poe Jr., in the “Ang Panday” movie series.
