Presidency not high on Sara’s agenda

Sara Duterte-Carpio

MATI City, Davao Oriental – For Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio the presidency is not a priority, at least for now.

The Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) founder and chairman said her father President Rodrigo Duterte wants to spare her the tedious work of a president.

In an interview during the Hugpong campaign sortie here, Mayor Duterte said they do not talk about politics, most especially the presidency.

“Wala din sa plans ko (ang maging president), ang plans ko lang so far is matapos ang three terms as Mayor of Davao City and mag-trabaho for anti-child abuse projects sa Davao City,” she told media.

However, when asked if this is her final decision, the presidential daughter stressed that she wants to leave everything to the will of God.

“Well yun ang plan ko. Pero siyempre sinasabi ko na hindi natin hawak ang mangyayari sa buhay natin, Hindi natin alam kung ano mangyayari bukas,  so hindi ko alam. Sinasabi ko nga ang dami kong plano pero hindi natupad. It is always God proposing plans,” she added.

She stressed she is not getting any advice or word of encouragement from her father to pursue the presidency.

“Wala siyang personal na sinasabi. Pag nagkakasama kasi kami we don’t talk politics, we talk issues about the family,” she said.

“Kasi siguro, alam nya kung gaano kahirap ang trabaho ng isang President. It is not easy, it consumes the whole of your life and time and days. It is like a work of a mayor magnified in millions,” the HNP campaign manager added.

The HNP, which is endorsing 13 candidates, yesterday began its week-long campaign caravan in Davao Region.  This is a known bailiwick of the Dutertes. sd1
