SEVEN known drug trafficking personalities in Western Mindanao were hauled to jail by agents of the Police Regional Office 9 in separate anti-narcotics operations this week, PRO9 director, Brigadier General Froilan F. Quidilla said yesterday.
Two of the suspects identified as construction worker Renan Quisel,26; and Darwin Nazarion,34, a nursing attendant were arrested during a buy-bust operation in Cabato Road, Barangay Tetuan in Zmaboanga City around 3:30 a.m. last Tuesday, the official said.
Recovered from the suspects were six heat-sealed plastic sachets containing an estimated P10,000 worth of shabu and two marked P100 bills paid to them by an undercover officer form the Zamboanga City Police Station 10.
Three other suspects identified as Jubail Abubakar,35; Al-hasraf Bong,23; and Mohammad Mike Bong,46, all residents of Capuk, Bgy. Mampang in Zamboanga City were arrested in an entrapment operation in Murga, Bgy. Sta. Catalina past 8 p.m. last Monday.
Seized from the three suspects were 10 plastic sachets with an estimated P10,000 worth of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and the boodle money topped by a marked P200 bill.
In Zamboanga Sibugay, local policemen arrested Jiggs Benolirao, a 19-year old fisherman tagged as a ‘high-value target’ after he sold shabu to an undercover anget in Purok Talisay, Bgy. Teniapan in San Pablo municipality 3:30 p.m. last Monday.
Quidilla said that the suspect yielded four plastic sachets containing shabu and a marked P500 bill.
The 7th identified as James Pumikpik, a 24-year old resident of Bgy. Manil in Leon Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte who is included in the watch list of the Philippine National Police Directorate for Intelligence was arrested in a sting in Purok 8, Bgy. Bisasong in Dipolog City 12:20 a.m. yesterday.
Qudilla said that the suspect yielded 11 plastic sachets containing an estimate P70,000 worth of shabu and the marked money paid to him by an undercover officer.
The 8th suspect identified as Jonathan Cañete,35, a resident of Bgy. Miputak, Dipolog City was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Sicayab in Purok San Roque, also located in the same city around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday.
The suspect yielded nine plastic sachets containing around P41,000 worth of the prohibited drugs, a marked P500 bill and a motorcycle which he used to transport the drugs.
Quidilla said that all eight suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
