SENATOR Richard Gordon on Wednesday confirmed that about a dozen police officers, most of them incumbent, have been linked to the illegal drug trade.
The senator said the alleged involvement of the cops was revealed during the executive session of the Senate Committee on Justice.
“Alam na namin ang nakalagay sa executive session and it’s very shocking…” Gordon said.
“Siguro mga isang dosena,” he added when asked how many police officials are involved.
“I think they are all active except for a couple,” Gordon further said.
The chairperson of Senate Blue Ribbon and Justice committees however declined to identify the policemen despite the go-signal given by the entire chamber to the panel to disclose the contents of the executive session.
But he confirmed that he decided to send the records of the executive session first to President Rodrigo Duterte to make the announcement.
“S’ya ang nag-appoint ng mga taong yan so he should make the announcement if he cares to,” he said.
But whether or not the President identifies the rogue cops, Gordon said the Senate will continue its investigation based on the revelations made during the executive session.
