THE Sandiganbayan allowed former Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada to travel to Singapore as he requested.
The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division has granted the motion of Estrada to allow him to accompany his mother on her stay in Singapore for medical examination from October 1 to 8.
In his motion, Estrada said former First Lady and Senator Loi Estrada is scheduled to undergo a medical check-up in Singapore on the same dates.
Estrada is required to ask permission from the court because of his pending plunder and graft charges in connection with the pork barrel fund scam.
Estrada submitted a certification from their family physician Dr. Regina Bagsic, who said Ejercito has been diagnosed with “severe compression deformity of the lumbar spine with vertebral body collapse.”
Estrada said he will comply with the conditions set by the Sandiganbayan.
The former senator is currently enjoying his provisional liberty after the Sandiganbayan allowed him to post a P1.3 million bail last September 2017.
Estrada was accused of plunder and 11 counts of graft for allegedly pocketing P183.79 million worth of kickbacks from projects funded by Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
