LIPA City, Batangas – Hugpong ng Pagbabago founder Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has decided to declare a unilateral ceasefire with the opposition especially Vice President Leni Robredo.
This after she received a phone call from her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, advising her not to “bully” anyone.
In an interview after the campaign sortie here, Mayor Duterte admitted that she was scolded by her mother because she exchanged negative attacks with the opposition senatorial bets and also Robredo.
“Nakatanggap ako ng phone call galing sa nanay ko na nasa Davao City at sinabi niya na wag daw ako makipag-away at wag ko raw i-bully yung opposition sa administration ni President Duterte and sinabi niya na I should be always be kind first before anything else,” the presidential daughter said.
“And then sinabi din niya na alam naman ng lahat na anak ako ni Rodrigo. Dapat din daw malaman ng lahat ng tao na anak din daw ako ni Elizabeth,” she added.
Because of this, the campaign manager of the HNP will no longer issue statements against the opposition and also will not response to whatever the other side will throw at them.
“So nagpack up na po ang Inday Sara show. Wala na po siya. Sarado na po siya. Shut it down,” she said.
In defending herself to her mother, Mayor Duterte said “I’m just responding to their challenge.”
But her mother said, “You have to be kind first of all.”
Two days ago, Mayor Duterte issued a strong statement assailing Robredo on the issue of honesty and accusing her of being a fake Vice President.
She reiterated her statement after the sortie in Calamba City on Saturday to which she said Robredo and the candidates of the Otso Diretso have no moral ascendancy in speaking about honesty because they themselves are liars.
Mayor Duterte has been defending the candidates of HNP particularly Ilocos Norte Imee Marcos who was being questioned on her fake college and law degrees and Bong Go on the alleged use of public funds for the distribution of T-shirts during the activity of Liga ng mga Barangay.
She even defended Sen. Sonny Angara on the issue of TRAIN law.
After heeding the request of her mother, Mayor Duterte said the campaign will now be less exciting.
“Wala ng kulay ang ating kampanya. Wala na talaga. So sad. Tingnan natin how long will I last,” she added.
