Sara denies say on Bangsa appointments

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte has denied that she had anything to do with the selection of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) officials.

In a statement Mayor Duterte said she is not interfering with the President or Malacanang in choosing government officials.

According to the presidential daughter, several people have approached her office to request for endorsements mainly due to rumors circulating that she has been given a hand in the selection of three posts for the BARMM.

“I categorically deny this and wish to reiterate that my authority is only within the area of Davao City as mandated by the Local Government Code,” Mayor Duterte said.

“The denial is true for the appointment of all other national government positions,” she added.

Mayor Duterte is the founder and chairperson of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago, a regional party which supported senatorial candidates during 2019 elections.

Nine out of 13 senatorial bets she campaigned for last mid-term elections won.

There are rumors that she is being courted by some supporters to run for president in 2022.
