SINGAPOREAN President Halimah Yacob will undertake a five-day state visit to the Philippines.
The visit on September 8-12 will be made upon the invitation of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
President Halimah’s state visit will mark the apex of this year’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore.
President Duterte and President Halimah will hold a bilateral meeting on September 9 to discuss areas of mutual interest and to further bilateral political, economic, cultural and people-to-people engagement.
While in the Philippines, the Singaporean president is also scheduled to visit Davao City, during which she will visit the Philippine Eagle Center and hold a dialogue with Mindanao youth.
In Manila, President Halimah’s engagements will also include a luncheon with the Philippines-Singapore Business Council.
President Halimah is Singapore’s first female president and first Malay head of state in 47 years.
