A SINGAPOREAN national yesterday brought into the country some US$500,000 cash which the traveler immediately declared to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

According to the BOC, the Singaporean arrived at around 9:00 a.m. on board Scoot Airlines flight TR 392 and voluntarily declared the currency in his hand-carry bag.

Customs officials in the presence of the owner validated the amount as Customs examiners on-duty, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Services (CIIS), and Customs Enforcement Security Services (ESS) officers witnessed the actual counting of the declared currency.

“Singaporean passenger honestly declared the currency and the money was legal and we also furnished the Anti-Money Laundering Council [AMLC] the repor,” the on-duty Customs Examiner said.
