SENATE President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III called the handlers of Peter Joemel Advincula, aka “Bikoy,” fools for accepting his retraction of his claims on his “Ang Totoong Narcolist” video.
“Ewan ko kung bakit, kung sino itong mga tangang pumatol e. Di ba dinala pa sa IBP (Integrated Bar of the Philippines)?” Sotto told Senate reporters.
Sotto reminded the public that he was the first to turn down Advincula’s services in 2016 after he offered information that would purportedly link former President Noynoy Aquino and his top officials to the drug trade.
He echoed Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson’s opinion that Advincula must first show enough valid evidences before the Senate will conduct an investigation into his claims.
Meanwhile, detained Senator Leila de Lima called Bikoy a “prodigal son” of President Rodrigo Duterte while denying that she and her staff have any connection to Advincula.
She said that whoever is behind Advincula’s new statements wanted to put her again in a bad light. She also called Advincula a “professional con artist.”
“A liar can tell the truth in order to give credence to his lies, and he can lie in order to poison the truth; it doesn’t make the lies any more true, or the truths any more false. The question is how do we tell the difference? By using reason and discernment, and digging deeper,” De Lima said.
