MAJORITY Leader Martin Romualdez said the House of Representatives will act immediately next week to pass the 2021 national budget on final reading.
Romualdez vowed to heed the call of President Rodrigo Duterte for the House of Representatives to hold a special session from October 13 to 16.
The proposed 2021 national budget is pegged at P4.5 trillion or 9.9 percent higher than this year’s budget.
“We appeal to our colleagues to give their full cooperation in ensuring the swift enactment of legal and constitutional General Appropriations Bill (GAB) as requested by President Duterte to support his vision for the nation in the years to come,” Romualdez said.
The chairman of the House rules committee said the members of the super majority and our colleagues from the constructive minority bloc are one with the Duterte administration in the implementation of its comprehensive plan to rebuild the Philippine economy and defeat coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The House leader also assured the public that Congress is assisting the administration in providing services to the people.
He added that the very transparent process of budget deliberations will always be observed to ensure its legality and constitutionality.
“So much legislation has been passed, but we will continue to work harder to approve other priority bills outlined by President Duterte in his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) despite the limitations and challenges caused by the COVID 19 pandemic,” Romualdez added.
