SENATOR JV Ejercito yesterday lamented that gun-for-hire is already becoming an industry in the country and urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to take a decisive action to stop it.
Ejercito then told the PNP to level-up in resolving cases of political killings especially incidents involving guns-for-hire.
They have to do something about this. Hindi naman pwedeng maging normal na ito, gun for hire ay maging industry, dapat mapigilan ito,” Ejercito said in an interview with DWIZ.
The senator said that because these cases remain unsolved, many unscrupulous politicians or syndicates are getting motivated in hiring killers to eliminate competition or threats.
He admitted that many politicians consider politics as their source of income since they have no other profession to fall back on. When faced with serious threats to their profession, he said that these politicians turn to drastic means to safeguard their livelihood.
With the announced P50-million reward, Ejercito hoped that the PNP is on the right track in their investigation of the case of Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Rodel Batocabe.
If the government will be able to solve immediately Batocabe’s killing, it will become a deterrent to other people who are planning to eliminate their rivals with the use of hired killers.
