Suspected ISIS follower captured in GenSan

A 23-YEAR-OLD suspected member of the ISIS-inspired Ansar Al-Khilafah Philippines which has gained notoriety for its involvement in terror attacks in Mindanao on Tuesday was captured by security forces in an operation in General Santos City.

Suspect Jomar Antang Maan alias “Potpot” was tracked down in his hiding place in Purok C, Upper London in Bgy. Bawing, General Santos City at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Maan was arrested by members of the General Santos City Police Office led by Maj. Peter Pinalgan Jr. and the Joint Task Force-Gensan led by Maj. John Disraeli Saya-Ang after weeks of surveillance.

Police Regional Office 12 director Brig. Gen. Alfred Corpus described Maan as a member of the Ansar Al-Khilafah linked to activities of ISIS fighters who have joined local terrorist groups in Southern Mindanao.

The suspect yielded a caliber .38 revolver with four live ammunition, one improvised explosive device, a rifle grenade and a black ISIS flag.

Corpus said that the suspect will be facing non-bailable charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and RA 9516 or illegal possession of explosives.
