Tolentino lauds Pinoys’ resiliency

February 19, 2019

Former political presidential adviser Francis Tolentino yesterday expressed admiration for the people’s hard work, resiliency, and discipline despite life throwing curve balls along the way.

“Ang kanilang halimbawa ng katapatan at dedikasyon sa trabaho at ang kanilang pag-aalay ng oras at talino para sa kapwa Pilipino ang dapat na maging sukatan din para sa mga nagnanais na mahalal at maglingkod sa gobyerno,” said Tolentino during the “Harapan 2019: The ABS-CBN Senatorial Town Hall Debate.”

For this year’s midterm elections, Tolentino is running under the ruling PDP-Laban party and enjoys the endorsement of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Tolentino, former chairperson of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, also enjoys the support of Hugpong ng Pagbabago under Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio.

If elected, Tolentino said he would push for the amendment of the Labor Code with workers rights the primordial concern, and senior citizens should be also given job opportunities.

Tolentino also vowed to improve the country’s educational system, and financial subsidies for poor but deserving students.

“Kung mabibigyan ng pagkakataong mahalal sa Senado, pag-ibayuhin ko ang mga benepisyong maaring maidagdag para sa mga manggagawang lantad sa panganib sa pagganap sa kanilang mga trabaho. Sa ganitong paraan, maibabalik ng gobeyrno sa ordinaryong mamamayan nito, ang paglilingkod na katumbas ng kanilang pagseserbisyo,” he said.
