EMBATTLED Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV is back at his Antipolo City home and will use the weekend for his much-needed rest and to bond with his family after staying at the Senate building for almost a month.
Trillanes left the Senate yesterday at past 10 in the morning and peacefully arrived at his Antipolo house with a long convoy of vehicles, including those from the media.
“It’s going to be a welcome or refreshing experience. I can imagine, just to be able to sleep on your own bed. Makakaligo ka na nang maayos kasi dito (Senate) tabo-tabo although I am not complaining sabi ko nga sanay ako dyan, babalik lang sa dating routine,” Trillanes said.
After not landing in jail as a result of the decision of Judge Andres Soriano of the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 148 not to issue a warrant of arrest against him, the senator said he will also immediately visit his ailing mother who has an advance Parkinson’s disease.
“Just before ako na naipit dito na-confine sya so that’s the last time na nagkita kami. Then paglabas niya sa ospital after a few weeks binalik uli, nandito na ako at hindi namin ma-risk na magkagulo-gulo pa sa ospital at kung hindi pa maliwanag ang sitwasyon, kung pinilit kong lumabas baka hindi ko rin makita ang nanay ko dahil dun sa mga nangyari,” he explained.
Trillanes then called the development a “political miracle” though he insisted that he did not lose hope in God.
“Ito na yung political miracles na nasaksihan natin,” Trillanes said.
“Nung Thursday and Friday, nangangamba ang mga kababayan natin na magwawagi ang kadiliman pero andito tayo ngayon at na iba ang plano ng Diyos. So I attribute that to all those who prayed na manaig ang katotohanan,” he added.
Since 2003, Trillanes said that his life has entered hardships and trials but he continued on because he did not lose faith in the Lord. He insisted that God will not leave him because his fight is righteous.
Pursuing the investigation of Solicitor General Jose Calida’s multi-million-peso government contracts will be the first order of the day for Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV this coming Monday.
Trillanes said that he will immediately follow up on his pending resolutions against Calida concerning the lucrative government contracts that was given to the solicitor general’s family-owned security agency.
“So makikiusap ako sa Senate leadership na buksan na ang imbestigasyon kay Calida sa Blue Ribbon,” Trillanes said.
Aside from Calida, Trillanes also is bent on conducting an investigation into other alleged irregularities involving Special Assistant to the President Bong Go and President Rodrigo Duterte’s son Paolo Duterte for alleged links to drugs.
