PDP-LABAN president Senator Koko Pimental yesterday told Senator Cynthia Villar not to interfere with their party after she castigated Senator Manny Pacquiao who is soliciting signatures of support from his partymates.
Villar was seen in a video seemingly berating Pacquiao who was holding documents that express support to the Senate leadership of Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
“Wag siya (Villar) makialam sa party namin. Sa party niya siya mag-concentrate,” Pimentel said.
Villar then fired back insisting that she was not interfering with Pimentel’s political party.
“That’s their problem. I am not interfering,” she claimed.
She insisted that the Senate leadership should first fix the designation of committees to all senators before she will sign the resolution of Pacquiao.
But even veteran Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson was shocked with the action of Villar when she confronted Pimentel and Pacquiao.
“I for one medyo na-surprise ako. Hindi ko expect ganoon,” he said.
He further explained that the issue of the distribution of committee chairmanship is not in the hands of the Senate President but it is a collective decision of the majority.
“The SP does not determine the chairmanships of the committees. It is determined by the majority. Kung sino iboboto ng majority na mag-chair ng mga committees, yan ang nasusunod. Not the SP. Mali ang isisisi mo si SP kung hindi mo makuha ang chairmanship ng committee na gusto mo,” Lacson added.
