THE Department of Labor and Employment has assured beneficiaries of the cash assistance to workers hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic they will receive their long awaited aid before Christmas.
Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III gave the assurance after President Rodrigo Duterte said he wants the beneficiaries to have the cash aid before the holidays.
“Before that, Mr President. Nov. 20 ang payout namin… We will make sure na they get their benefits, at the latest, November 20,” he responded to Duterte.
Bello said the payout will run from Nov. 15 to 20, with the DOLE focusing on the hardest hit areas like Regions 5, 4A, and 4B.
He added that the DOLE is still distributing the P5 billion aid allotted for overseas Filipino workers.
“As per our report this morning, we were already able to pay out P3.1 billion pero meron pa tayong naiwan and hopefully ma-distribute pa namin ‘yun,” he said Monday.
DOLE earlier said it would immediately distribute the cash aid after the Department of Budget and Management released the needed funds.
