A STILL unidentified gunman shot to death a 38-year old escapee from the Ramon Magsaysay District Jail in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Norte around 11 a.m. Friday before fleeing, a Police Regional Office 9 report said.

The killer, armed with an improvised 12-gauge shotgun, attacked Nestor Dumandos in Sitio Guayan in Purok 3, Midsalip municipality without any provocation before escaping on foot, said Midsalip Municipal Police Station chief, Major Edgar Hinoctan.

Hinoctan said they are still conducting follow-up operations to identify and arrest the suspect.

In Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, local policemen arrested two men accused of killing a five-year old boy in Sitio Sunora, Bgy. Baclay 11:50 a.m. Friday.

The suspects were identified as Celso Castanares,52; and Marcelino Cabello,48.

Investigation showed the suspects were attending the wake of a common friend when Cabello reportedly went wild and was confronted by Castanares who was armed with a caliber .38 revolver.

The two grappled for the weapon which eventually went off hitting the victim in the forehead and killing him on the spot.

The two are now being held at the Tukuran police jail facing appropriate criminal charges.
