THE Department of Foreign Affairs expressed condolences to the family of a Filipina whose body was found floating in a river in Sabah more than a week ago.
The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur identified the victim as Madelyn Bernardo Asuncion who was found by a plantation worker floating in the Pengalan River in Melalap on November 28 and reported it to authorities.
Ambassador to Malaysia Charles C. Jose said Malaysian authorities have informed the Embassy that there was enough evidence to classify the case as a possible homicide.
The Embassy is waiting for the official report on the incident and the result of the autopsy.
Asuncion was originally from Zamboanga City but had been staying with her father in Malaysia for the past 10 years.
Her father assisted authorities in identifying her remains.
