RESPONDING Masbate policemen on Monday evening shot and killed one of the armed men who shot and wounded a 50-year-old barangay captain and one of his men for still unknown reasons, Police Regional Office 5 director, Brigadier General Arnel B. Escobal reported yesterday.
The official said the still unidentified suspect was killed during a shootout with members of the Placer Municipal Police Station who responded to a report regarding a shooting incident in Barangay San Marcos around 6 p.m. Monday.
A second suspect managed to escape arrest and is still being hunted as of press time, Escobal said.
The Bicol police director said an initial investigation showed that the gunmen shot Bgy. San Marcos Captain Antonio Jose Aum and the village’s chief ‘tanod’ Graciano Condrillon, 45, as the two were standing outside a local store.
