1 dead, 3 hurt in road mishap

A 43-year-old man was killed while three others were injured when their motorcycles were struck by a wayward SUV along the provincial highway in Tayug, Pangasinan past 4 p.m. Tuesday, a Police Regional Office 1 report said.

Henry Villanueva was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital where the other victims identified as Villanueva’s wife Rosie, 43; their son Prince Hennesy, 1; and farmer Remegio Bartolome Jr., 39, were also taken for treatment.

PRO1 director, Brigadier General Joel S. Orduna said that the incident took place along the provincial road in Barangay Magallanes in Tayug municipality at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday.

It started when an Isuzu Mux with plate no. CAN 5436 and being driven by Mark Anthony Magat,37, a resident of Bgy. Apanay in Alicia, Isabela encroached on the lane occupied by Villanueva and Bartolome and hit the two’s motorcycles.

Witnesses said that the SUV first hit the Yamaha Mio motorcycle of Villanueva. As a result, the SUV dragged the motorcycle underneath before hitting the motorcycle of Bartolome.

Villanueva’s motorcycle was a total wreck while the two other vehicles suffered major damage. Orduna said that Magat will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injuries and damage to property.
