1 killed, 21 arrested in Bulacan anti-drugs ops

AN armed drug trafficking suspect was killed in a gunbattle with undercover operatives in San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan early morning yesterday, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said.

The slain suspect identified as  Arnel Moseños alias ‘Arnel Mosetos’ exchanged fire with operatives of San Jose del Monte City Police Station headed by Lieutenant Colonel Orlando Castil Jr. in Block 10, Barangay Gumaoc West around 12:30 a.m. yesterday and was killed on the spot.

Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were six heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, seven plastic sachets with suspected shabu residue, one calibre .38 revolver with two spent cartridges and two live ammunition, assorted drug paraphernalia and the marked money paid to him by the poseur.

Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Chito G. Bersaluna also announced the arrest of 21 other drug offenders, three of them minors during a series of buy-bust operations in Pulilan, Plaridel, Balagtas, Calumpit, San Rafael, San Ildefonso, Guiguinto, Marilao, Malolos and Pandi municipalities and San Jose del Monte and Malolos cities.

Bersaluna said recovered from the suspects were 38 plastic sachets containing shabu, a sizeable amount of dried marijuana leaves and the buy-bust money they received from undercover operatives.

The arrested suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the official said.
