SAN JOSE CITY -- A joint operation conducted by the local police here in collaboration with the Gapan City and Plaridel, Bulacan police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Nueva Ecija resulted in the neutralization of an alleged notorious drug trafficker and the arrest of his four other cohorts following a buy-bust operation that turned into a brief gunfight in Gapan City early Saturday morning.
Killed was Eduardo Doroteo, 50, alias Ude, a suspected drug pusher, of Bgy. Rueda, Plaridel, Bulacan while those nabbed were identified as his younger brother Ferdinand Doroteo, 37; Daisy San Diego, 36, vendor, of Pandi, Bulacan; Lino Dela Cruz, 51, tricycle driver, of Look 1st., Malolos, Bulacan; and Joel Sunga, 45, of Umangan, Aliaga.
Gapan city police head Lt. Col. Criselda De Guzman said the brief encounter with the slain suspect and his four cohorts occurred following a drug deal that took place in Bgy. Sto. Cristo at 2 a.m.
San Jose City police chief Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno described the slain suspect as a high-profile drug pusher in Plaridel, Bulacan.
He said a police poseur-buyer was able to buy from the suspects P1,000-worth of crystal meth (shabu) when one of the suspects, who probably sensed that the deal was just a set-up, suddenly grabbed his gun and fired at the operating lawmen, who fought back, hitting the suspect in different parts of the body that caused his instantaneous death.
Seized from the four suspects were four plastic sachets containing shabu with a street value of P68,000.
Recovered from the encounter site were a cal .45 pistol, six slugs of cal.9mm and two from cal .45, and one plastic sachet containing shabu.
