SIXTEEN ‘sabungeros’ were among the 108 General Community Quarantine violators apprehended by Cavite policemen in separate operations on Saturday and Sunday, a report to Police Regional Office 4-A director, Brigadier General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said yesterday.
The 16 were arrested in five anti-tupada operations conducted by the Cavite Police Provincial Office headed by Colonel Marlon R. Santos in the province. Another seven persons engaged in illegal gambling and 85 GCQ violators were also apprehended during the period, said Santos.
The official said that recovered from the arrested ‘sabungeros’ were 11 fighting cocks, seven gaffs or ‘tari’ and P5,470 in cash bets.
Santos said a known drug trafficker in General Mariano Alvarez municipality during a buy-bust operation which led in the confiscation of two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, the marked money paid to the suspect by an undercover officer and various drug paraphernalia.
He added that six others were arrested on charges of alarm and scandal, grave threat and direct assault and stabbing in Barangay Caridad in Cavite City while the rest were apprehended for violation of GCQ rules including non-wearing of face masks in public, curfew violation and the social distancing rules.
