ELEVEN suspected members of a notorious “gapos/akyat-bahay” operating in Bulacan and other parts of Central Luzon and Metro Manila who were arrested by combined members of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office and the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 3 on Wednesday were charged in court, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
Charged before the Office of the Bulacan City Prosecutor in San Jose del Monte City with carnapping, robbery, violation of the anti-fencing law and Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 were Gilbert , John Jesus, Rachel, Gemma and Reginald Laxamana, Leonard Barrios, Rose Ann Sioson, Mike Adoy, Jerome Velasco, Ma. Buena Sedico and Marvin Patubo.
The 11 suspects were arrested by members of the Bulacan PPO headed by Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna and the RHPU 3 led by Senior Supt. Kirby John Kraft for their involvement in a series of robbery-holdup and carnapping cases in different cities and municipalities of Bulacan and nearby provinces and even Metro Manila.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Supt. Joel Napoleon Coronel, Bersaluna said the suspects were arrested in follow-up operations in San Jose del Monte City after they were identified by several complainants and witnesses as well as in CCTV footages as among the persons who were involved in several “akyat-bahay” cases in the province.
Bersaluna said the suspects are known for barging inside their victims’ houses and hogtying all persons present inside before ransacking the place and fleeing with their loot on board suspected stolen motor vehicles.
