TWELVE members of the New People’s Army have surrendered in Surallah, South Cotabato following talks with members of the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group director Brigadier General Edgar S. Monsalve announced yesterday.
Monsalve said the 12 rebels, members of the Platoon Samsung, Roxas Range and Cherry Mobile of the NPA’s Guerrilla Front 73, were welcomed by South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamajo Jr. during ceremonies at the provincial capitol in Koronadal City.
Monsalve said the rebels were convinced to surrender by members of the Regional Intelligence Unit 12 with the help of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 12, the Army’s 27th Infantry Battalion and the Police Regional Office 12 Regional Mobile Force Battalion.
He said the surrenderees used to operate in different parts of Lake Sebu and in Surallah, South Cotabato before they got tired of the hard life in the mountains.
Monsalve added they will avail iof the government’s E-Clip program aimed at providing rebel surrenderers with livelihood for their families.
